New Job... Update Ok here's the scoop, I was scheduled to open on Sat. And Sun. That means I have to be at work by 7am on Sat. And 7:30am on Sun. It takes 1/2 hour to get everything set up and opened. So on Saturday everything went fine. And so you all know a little history there is this girl Melissa that I work with. She is about 19 or 20, and I thought she was a Hourly manager, she has been training me. On my first day she was constantly telling me thing I already knew, such as why you need to do a cash drop (like I haven't been held up at gun point) and the difference between clean and sanitized. But I know I am the new girl and this is how you train ( I was also a training manager), so it was no big deal. I really started to like her, she is a really good worker, keeps things really clean, and keeps her crew busy. WELL... On Saturday, I asked her if she opened on Sunday and she said she did, but then told me not to show up too early because she wont be at the store til really close to 7:30. On Sunday I get to work maybe 5 minutes early and I wait. Sarah (anther co-worker) shows up and we sit outside and just talk. 7:30 comes and goes and we are still waiting... 7:45 still outside... (there is also a 5 minute rule Store opens 5 minutes before the posted sign and closes 5 minutes later) 7:55... It's starting to get cold and Sarah is talking about going home... 8:00am Opening time, people are starting to walk up to the door and the lights are still off and the door is locked... Melissa doesn't show up til close to 8:30am, so forget about Training me on how to put the order away, or enter it, lets just get opened and ready. I didn't really have a problem that she was late, I have overslept and chit happens, my problem is this... Today Craig (GM, my boss) asks me if I learned about the order and stuff and I told him the truth, Melissa was late and we opened at about 8:30am, I guess Melissa "forgot" to mention this to Craig when he called on Sunday... ALL 5 TIMES he called. He asks me if this is how an assistant manager should behave? She is an assistant manager, she never introduced herself, I just learned her name via the name tag, she is an hour late to work and doesn't tell her boss what happened? I can tell this isn't how she normally works, she is NOT lazy, so with? Craig told me that Melissa has a lot of chit going on in her life and this isn't normal, and the way my life has been these last few months, I can understand, but that is Not how an assistant manager acts! Grrrrrrrrrr, it just irritates me. All I can say is that I am not going to be working with here for long my training only lasts for 3 weeks, and week 1 is over! Bring on week 2!!!!
